DHM Connection Blog

Welcome to the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary Blog. The purpose of the Blog is to inform the readers of the various aspects of how members of the Society live our charism in the 21st century.  Readers are encouraged to ask questions and comment on the Blog entries both as a means of clarification and to promote discussion.

Do whatever he tells you. (JN 2,5) Part Three

“Like Mary, let us be guided by the purest of intents in the smallest of actions.” (Adelaide de Cice, September 7, 1809)

One of my daily active prayer practices is one that is known as the Welcoming Prayer which was developed by Contemplative Outreach and is meant to help us to be contemplatives in action.

I no longer call you servants but instead call you friends (Jn 15, 15) Part Three

After imploring light from the Holy Spirit, immediately I remembered (the above) sentence from the holy gospel which now head the plan of the DHM (Fr. de Cloriviere)

Part 3

As stated in a previous post, in order to establish and have a friendship to grow requires spending time together.  One prayer practice that I use to spend time with God is by the form of prayer known as Lectio Divina.  It is a prayer practice in which one spends time reading and reflecting on the Word of God in scriptures—both the written word and the Word of God, Jesus.

Do whatever he tells you (JN 2,5) Part Two

“Like Mary, let us be guided by the purest of intents in the smallest of actions.” Adeelaide de Cice, September 7, 1809

Although as a Daughter of the Heart of Mary, my primary focus is on Mary and how she lived “Do whatever he tells you,” I would be remiss not to point out how Joseph also lived the quote, especially when it came to putting his faith in action and being obedient to God’s will.

In an interview of Jean Vanier in the August 5, 2015 America magazine, Sean Salai, S.J. asked the question “How do you pray?”  Vanier responded by saying that the question’s actual meaning is, “What is your relationship with Jesus?” because prayer is a relationship,  in which we sit hand in hand with Jesus and like John at the last supper, it is a resting with Him.”

One of the two Biblical quotes of a Marian nature “Do whatever he tells you” (Jn 2,5), which comes from the story of the miracle of Cana, is the basis for how the Society of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary view that we should be in the world.

One of the inspirations of our founders for the creation of the Society is John 15,15 and the longer I have been a member of the Society, the more I am aware of just how important this quote is to our founding and our living of the charism.
